Below you will find a few of my inspirations for movement, food, books and other tools for your journey.
All are resources that I have found helpful and recommend freely, without compensation of any kind.
Yoga
I highly recommend Thousand Petals Yoga. I have worked with Sommer and Paul for almost 20 years and they now have an amazing online library that has phenomenal offerings for everyone from the seasoned expert and to the absolute beginner, as well as in person classes.
Food Service
Lizzie and Cordon from Goodness Cooks are an amazing source for healthy meals. Located in Chapel Hill, NC, they offer a new menu each week that features a wide variety of foods that range from vegan salads to organic meats to divine desserts. The creative and nutritious meals are truly inspiring.
Recipes
Love and Lemons has a variety of delicious, healthful recipes. They also have excellent instructions for a variety of simple food preparations for the total novice. If you’ve wondered how to make mushroom broth, what to do with a spaghetti squash, or how to make pickled onions, this is the site for you.
Caring for Your Brain
I recommend “How to Build a Healthy Brain” by Kimberley Wilson. The book reviews all of the different ways in which our behaviors contribute to the health and thriving of the brain. From the foods we eat to sleep to exercise, there are many different factors in our control that shift our well-being.
Understanding Addiction
Dr. Anna Lembke explains addiction expertly in her book “Dopamine Nation”. Dr. Lembke is an addiction psychiatrist at Stanford with decades of experience and shares her amazing wisdom in this book. Although it is non-fiction, I found it entertaining and very approachable.
Reducing Burnout
In “Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle”, Amelia and Emily Nagoski team up to explain the ways in which unprocessed stress impact us physically, mentally and emotionally. It is an enjoyable read with tangible examples that make it easy to apply to lessons in the book to your own life.
